Install the beta
PXCH Rooms is currently available to invited testers through Apple’s TestFlight app. External testing is not yet open, and there is no public App Store download.
- Install TestFlight from Apple on the iPhone or Mac you want to use.
- Open your TestFlight invitation and accept it with the intended Apple Account.
- In TestFlight, choose PXCH Rooms, then Install or Update. The dedicated Mac app requires macOS 14 or later; the iPhone app requires iOS 17 or later.
A PXCH meeting invitation opens a room; a TestFlight invitation lets you install the beta. If your TestFlight invitation is missing or expired, contact the person who invited you.
Request beta access. Requests do not guarantee an invitation.
Join a meeting
- Open PXCH Rooms and choose Join a meeting. On Mac, you can also press ⌘J.
- Paste the complete invitation. On iPhone, you can also use Scan QR code. Optionally name the saved room.
- Choose Join meeting and follow the room’s guest, sign-in, or admission steps.
Keep the complete link, including anything after a question mark. It may carry access or referral information. Ordinary web invitations do not automatically launch this app.
PXCH 3.0 controls
Use the controls inside PXCH for microphone, camera, Hand, chat, and leaving. On smaller iPhone screens, open More for additional controls. Device setup choices scroll while Join and Cancel remain accessible. In landscape, scroll the control rail for additional actions. On Mac, resize the window to give the meeting more space.
Waiting for the host?
The host may need to start the meeting or admit you. Saving a room does not bypass these restrictions. If PXCH says an invitation is expired, restricted, or already connected elsewhere, ask the host to check the room or end the older session.
Host your own room
You can host a PXCH room you own. Scheduling and full account management remain on PXCH’s website.
- Open your room’s complete invitation in PXCH Rooms.
- Choose PXCH’s host sign-in link and sign in with the account that owns the room.
- Check the camera and microphone in device setup, then choose Join meeting. Confirm PXCH shows you as the host.
On Mac, sign-in opens in a separate window; when it returns to the original room, the meeting moves into the main app window. Interactive content may still open separate windows. On iPhone, host sign-in and the meeting stay inside the app.
After ending a meeting, close its page and reopen the saved invitation to start again. The first iPhone host sign-in can leave an original invitation page behind the host window; close that page too to return to saved rooms. While your sign-in remains valid, reopening your room may take you directly to device setup.
Check media every time: camera and microphone can be enabled again when you reopen device setup. Do not assume the previous meeting’s muted choices are remembered. A room’s session limit still applies; the app does not keep expired meetings running. Avoid hosting the same account from multiple devices at once.
Camera and microphone
Allow the microphone when you want to speak and the camera when you want to show video. iPhone QR scanning also needs camera access. On recognized PXCH meeting pages, the app reuses existing system camera and microphone authorization. A new permission, changed site, or revoked access may still require a prompt.
iPhone: open Settings, find PXCH Rooms, and review Camera and Microphone. These controls are also under Privacy & Security.
Mac: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera or Microphone and check PXCH Rooms. If macOS asks you to quit and reopen the app, leave the meeting first. Check PXCH’s selected input and output devices after returning.
A host can restrict microphone or camera use even when system permission is enabled. A permission prompt alone does not mean you are unmuted. Check the actual meeting controls before speaking.
Saved rooms and remembered sign-in
Choose a saved room to reopen its original invitation. Rename, favorite, share, or remove it using its menu or details. On Mac, select a room in the sidebar, then choose Join meeting. Search uses the names you give your rooms.
On Mac, the sidebar hides when you open a room. Use the sidebar button or ⌃⌘S to show or hide it without reloading your meeting. Closing the meeting page, or returning to PXCH’s recognized Join Meeting screen, restores your earlier sidebar preference. If a different end screen appears, use the sidebar button or Close page.
Saved rooms and website sign-in are local to each device. They do not automatically sync between iPhone and Mac or share Safari’s login. Removing a saved room deletes that local entry; it does not delete the meeting or data held by PXCH.
The meeting website’s Remember me option is separate from your saved-room library. In PXCH 3.0, select it and submit your name and email to save those details. Closing before submitting does not save them. Another PXCH site or device may ask again. To stop remembering details, unselect Remember me and submit the form.
To reset website sign-in, first leave and close your meeting pages. Open the app’s Help panel and choose Clear web sign-in (on Mac, Clear web sign-in…). This clears website cookies and storage; saved invitations remain.
Presentations, interactive sites, and files
Presentations and interactive websites appear inside the meeting. Some content opens another in-app page or Mac window, or has its own sign-in and privacy choices. If it will not load, ask the host to check whether the site supports being shown inside a meeting.
iPhone: supported downloads appear in Meeting files. Use Preview to read supported documents or Share to save a copy elsewhere.
Mac: choose Files or press ⇧⌘D to open Meeting files. Use Preview or Save a copy…. When a meeting page offers an upload, the Mac file chooser lets you select the file to send to that website.
Temporary downloads are limited to 50 MB per file, five files, and a 100 MB total storage budget. A download may be refused if there is not enough reserved space; remove a file and try again. Closing the meeting clears temporary files. Copies saved or shared elsewhere remain where you put them.
Mac screen sharing has not yet been fully verified. Do not rely on it until you have tested PXCH’s system picker and confirmed another participant can see the share.
Leave, end, and reconnect
Leave disconnects you. As host, End → End Meeting for All ends the session for everyone. Closing a native meeting page disconnects that page; it is not a substitute for ending the room for everyone. Use PXCH’s own controls to leave or end normally.
iPhone: keep the app visible during calls. Audio or video may pause when you switch apps or lock your phone.
Mac: keep the meeting page open. Sleep, closing the laptop lid, network changes, or switching devices can interrupt a call. The app does not prevent your Mac from sleeping.
- Return to PXCH Rooms and check the meeting’s connection, audio output, microphone, and camera.
- If it does not recover, use PXCH’s Leave control when available.
- Choose Reopen original invitation from the meeting page menu, or close the page and reopen the saved room. Confirm any replacement prompt, then check device setup before joining again.
Reopening replaces the current page and may require sign-in or admission again. The app does not automatically rejoin a disconnected meeting. PXCH’s device setup may enable microphone or camera again.
Current beta notes

- iPhone — version 1.0 (6): PXCH 3.0 form, keyboard, device setup, permissions, and host sign-in compatibility. Host login and repeat room access were checked in the simulator; simulator media does not establish physical-iPhone audio/video reliability.
- Mac — version 1.0 (8): a flush sidebar that hides when opening a room, restores its width and earlier visibility when you close the page or return to the recognized lobby, and can be toggled during a call. Native file handling and host sign-in in the main window remain available. Live host sign-in, room start/end, and repeat access after an app restart were checked on an M4 MacBook Pro. Two-way media, extended calls, sleep recovery, and screen sharing still need broader testing. Intel and older supported macOS versions have not been run in this qualification pass.
- Hand after microphone blocking: Hand can fail after the host blocks your microphone, even after access is restored. This PXCH permission issue remains. If the indicator does not change, tell the host through chat when available; do not assume your hand was raised.
- Older PXCH rooms: iPhone compatibility adjustments remain, but live PXCH 1.0 and 2.0 rooms were not requalified in this update. The Mac app uses PXCH’s desktop meeting pages.
- iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island: the widget opens your recent room. Live meeting status, microphone status, and mute/unmute are not available there. Continuous iPhone background audio is not supported reliably.
- Website changes: PXCH and interactive websites can change independently of the app. Report the PXCH version and steps that led to a problem.
